Trying the Breakfast Buffet of The Bellevue Resort (Panglao, Bohol)
The Bellevue Resort in Panglao (Bohol) is one of the premier resorts in the entire province. It’s a few minutes drive away from the touristy Alona Beach, so it’s quieter there.

Like many five-star accommodations, The Bellevue Resort has nice rooms, good hospitality, and all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet.
The breakfast buffet is either at Lamian Modern Filipino Cuisine or Marea Al Fresco Dining (maybe it depends on whether the hotel is fully booked or not). The million dollar question is: Is the buffet worth waking up early for?
Here’s what I think of the food I tried:
Baked/Deep-Fried Bacon: It’s crunchy and fatty. But it could be chewy; I guess it depends on the batch or day. I hope it’s more crisp. Still, it’s one of the better bacon I’ve had in a breakfast buffet.
Biko (rice cake): It’s soft and sticky.
Bread Pudding: It’s warm, soft, and comforting. It’s hands down my favorite in the breakfast buffet
Churros: They’re good and have retained a bit of crispness. But I can imagine when it’s freshly made.
Corned Beef Hash: I had better ones.
Croissant: They’re not buttery and flaky. There’s also a greasy feel. Skip this one!
Hungarian Sausage: It’s tasty and has a snappy casing.
Omelette: It’s fluffy!
Pichi-Pichi (a snack made of cassava and covered with grated coconut): It’s soft but not the best I’ve tried.
Pork Nuggets: It’s tasty and has a crunchy exterior. This is one of my favorites here!
Strawberry Danish: It has a nice custard but the bread isn’t great. I think their baked good aren’t their strength
Ube Champorado (purple yam-flavored rice porridge): It’s on a bland side so you have to add condensed milk in it.
Ube Espasol (a cylindrical shaped rice cake): It’s too sweet for me.
So is the breakfast buffet of The Bellevue Resort worth waking up early for? While there are items that are good, I don’t think you wake up early for it. My advice is that you just sleep a bit more (hey, you’re on vacation!), come at least half an hour before the buffet ends, and stick with the classics like bacon and omelette.
