I have a few backlogs of our Bohol foodventures. So I’m starting a Bohol Food Trip mini-series.
My wife and I once celebrated our wedding anniversary in the province of Bohol. One of the best ways to celebrate the Lord’s goodness on our married life, I believe, is by eating steak (LOL). Thankfully, Bohol has The Lost Cow Chophouse.
The Lost Cow Chophouse
The Lost Cow Chophouse prides itself to be the first real chophouse in Panglao Island. Located in the posh Amorita Resort, this American chophouse offers steaks and smoked meats, with a menu designed by the resort’s executive chef, Chef Greg Villalon.
The chophouse occupies a space that used to be an Italian restaurant. Its interior is casual, unlike steakhouses that can be intimidating.

They also have a private dining room:

The Lost Cow must be so good that it got the attention of the Tatler Philippines:

So is it really good? Here’s what we think…
To start, we ordered the Bacon with a Vendetta, which is a thick-cut bacon slab. It’s melt-in-the-mouth tender and its fat covers the mouth easily.

It comes with one side and one sauce. So for the side, we got the Jalapeño Cheddar Corn Bread, which is not sweet and slightly smoky. And for the sauce, we got the sweet and tangy Chophouse BBQ.
For our main course, we had to get the Matador, which is 400 grams of USDA prime grade ribeye. It’s so juicy and tender, with a bit of a chew.
Matador (PHP5,200)
The Matador comes with two sides and two sauces. We got the Crispy Haystack Onions and the Stuffed Baked Potato. The former is crisp and naturally sweet. Unfortunately, it’s on the oily side.

The potato gives a nice creaminess to the ribeye meal!

We were able to try all of the sauces: Gentleman’s Steak House (tangy and slightly sweet), Brandy Peppercorn Brown Sauce (a bit peppery), and Miso Shallot Butter Compound (which is a mix of buttery and salty, full of umami!).
The Sauces for Our Steak
To end our meal, we got the Hollywood, Here I Come, which is a chocolate fudge cake topped with salted caramel popcorn. Honestly, it’s just okay. So do us a favor by trying other desserts.

There may be a few items in The Lost Cow Chophouse that could use some improvement. But overall, we were pleased with our visit there. They have good food, especially their steak. It’s perfect for a date night for those on their honeymoon or celebrating their anniversary. I highly recommend it to you!
