I have a few backlogs of our Bohol foodventures. So I’m doing a Bohol Food Trip mini-series. Check out the installments: The Lost Cow Chophouse (Steaks and Smoked Meats) | Smoque Bistro (Meats) | Totò e Peppino (Italian Restaurant)

One of my favorite tourist destinations in Bohol is the South Farm in Panglao. It’s a 9-hectare property where visitors can interact with farm animals, see vegetable gardens, and participate in workshops such as claypot painting and coco candy making. It’s perfect for the family!

When you get hungry after all the activities, you can dine at The Prawn Farm Restaurant

The Prawn Farm is a Boholano food concept that specializes on seafood dishes and offers all-you-can-eat (AYCE) buffet. Its original branch is located in Island City Mall (Tagbilaran City).

The branch in South Farm may not have an AYCE option. But what makes this branch unique is that it allows you to catch fish in the pond and have it cooked in the way you prefer.

Our nephews caught 3 tilapia fish, which were cooked two ways: (1) Stuffed then grilled, and (2) cooked in gata (coconut milk).

Grilled Tilapia (PHP95/100g; Cooking Charge: PHP50/100g)

Being freshly caught, the fish is fresh and meaty. The flesh is also a bit sweet, which is a testament to its freshness.

We also tried other dishes. Since we’re in an island and there is an abundance of seafood, we got the Baked Scallops. It’s cheesy and not too sweet and margarine-y like other recipes.

Since we’re a big group, we opted the Butchers Grill, which is a platter of meats. It has Crispy Pata (deep-fried pig leg) and Lechon Kawali (deep-fried pork belly), which are both crunchy, tasty, and tender.

It also has grilled chicken and pork belly, which are tender and sweet, although I must admit that the sweetness has a weird taste. There’s also kebabs, which are just okay.

To feel a bit healthier, we got the Nilaw-oy Soup with Fish Tinap-an, which is a Visayan vegetable dish with smoked fish. It’s sweet and gingery, and the veggies are fresh. The dish reminds me of the Ilocano dinengdeng.

The Prawn Farm Restaurant at South Farm makes good Filipino food and serves the freshest seafoods. Plus, catching your own fish adds to the experience. So if you’re visiting South Farm, you might as well have a meal in The Prawn Farm. I highly recommend it to you!
