I have a few backlogs of our Bohol foodventures. So I’m doing a Bohol Food Trip mini-series. Check out the installments: The Lost Cow Chophouse (Steaks and Smoked Meats) | Totò e Peppino (Italian Restaurant)

I love meats. So when I found out that there’s a place in Tagbilaran City, the capital of Bohol province, that specializes on meats, I knew I had to include it in our eat-inerary. That spot is Smoque Bistro + Cafe & Bar.

At Smoque Bistro + Cafe & Bar

Smoque prides itself as “a laid-back lounge and a sanctuary for meat enthusiasts.” It opened in 2017 and has been under the culinary direction of Chef Raphael Ongchiong. Its venue is casual, perfect for barkadas (group of friends) and families.

They also have a cafe, which is attached to the dining area:

And they also sell some merch:

Now let’s talk about the food. They serve complimentary bread, which is butter and plillowy, with a nice lamination. We just find the compound butter on the lardy side.

For appetizer, we chose the Cheese Puffs, which are fried cheese balls drizzled with truffle honey and sprinkled with parmesan. The filling is cheesy and gooey, and complemented well with the sweetness from the honey. (Note: This may not be available anymore.)

Look at that cheesy filling!

Now let’s talk about the meats, starting with the St. Louie Style Spareribs. This massive bad boy is sweet, smoky, and spicy. It comes with two sides, and we got coleslaw and French fries.

Another meat we got is the Crackling Pork Belly. True to its name, this dish has a nice crackle. The sauce beneath it is also flavorful!

We would love to end our meal with a good slice of cake. Unfortunately, Smoque only offers cakes whole. Thankfully, I was able to try it at an occasion we attended in Bohol. And I must say that they make good cakes!

With the few dishes that we tried, we could already say that Smoque Bistro + Cafe & Bar makes good food. If you’re celebrating with family and friends, visiting Bohol, or simply looking for a way to satisfy your meat fix, then this place is for you. I highly recommend it to you!
