When I first visited Tekka Centre, a hawker centre in Singapore’s Little India, my first goal was to try Allaudin’s Briyani. I learned about it when top food vlogger Mark Wiens featured it.

Allaudin’s Briyani

First established in 1968, Allaudin’s Briyani is a hawker stall that specializes in Briyani (or Biryani), a dish made of fragrant rice cooked in a pot and usually served with a protein, typically chicken and mutton. The stall has a MICHELIN recognition, though I couldn’t determine when it was first recognized.

Allaudin’s Briyani offers Chicken (biryani or fried), Fish, Mutton, and Prawn (only on Friday to Sunday). They also have sambal options.

Look at that pot of biryani!

On my first visit to Allaudin's Briyani, I tried their mutton biryani. Its rice is fluffy and flavorful, with an added crunch from cashews. It comes with a generous serving of mutton, which is slide-off-the-bone tender. Its also accompanied with papadums (a crispy cracker) and zucchini which add a nice crunch to the dish, and a boiled egg which add creaminess.

A bowl of dahl is served on the side, which is slightly spicy, slightly salty, and a flavorbomb.

If you’re not into mutton, then you can opt for chicken instead. The biryani version is tender and flavorful.

They also have fried chicken, which is on the plain side with light turmeric flavor. But I recommend that you just get the chicken biryani version, as the fried one is also on the dry side

Overall, Allaudin’s biryani is, as I love to say, a world of flavors and textures. While there are other good (and maybe even better) biryani stalls in Tekka Centre and other places, I think Alauddin’s Briyani is a good place to start. I highly recommend it to you!
