The Ultimate Metro Manila Burger Guide
Editor’s Note: Mac’s Diner officially closed on January 12, 2026
I love burgers! Every time there’s a new burger joint in town, I try to visit as soon as I can. And even when I’m abroad, I try to sneak in a burger stop in my eat-inerary.
I think I’ve visited quite a number of burger joints that I can now start The Ultimate Metro Manila Burger Guide. In this guide, I’m listing down the burger joints that I recommend, as well as non-burger spots that happen to make good burgers.
Burger Joints
Bored and Hungry (Various Locations)
Bored and Hungry is a California-based, Non Fungible Token (NFT)-themed burger joint that accepts payment in U.S. dollar and cryptocurrency forms. They started in the Philippines doing pop-ups. Now, they have four locations across Metro Manila.
Bored and Hungry at Public Eatery in Robinsons Magnolia
My favorite from Bored and Hungry is their The Bored OG, which is amazing! It comes with two beefy and ultra-juicy smashed patties, cheese, sweet caramelized onions, and crisp and sour pickles, all sandwiched between two soft buns that have absorbed all the flavorful juices.

Bun Run (Makati City and San Juan City)
Bun Run is a chef-driven burger joint that started in San Juan City. Helmed by Chef Kevin David, this joint serves classic burgers as well as gourmet ones, like the Raclette Burger and the Truffle Burger.

They also do collabs with other food concepts to come up with unique creations, such as the Burger Kouign (with patisserie Butterboy) and Patty Melt with You (with Likhang Harina).
Flipside Burgers (Various Locations)
Flipside Burgers is a food truck specializing in Oklahoma-style smashed burgers. It’s the brainchild of Chef Ed Bugia of the former Pino Group. It started out in Gyud Food Market in the University of the Philippines (Quezon City), and now has multiple branches across the Metro.

While I like many of their burgers, my favorite is the Bacon Jam Slam. It has bacon jam, cream cheese, and crispy onion strings. The bacon flavor of this burger is strong, and the onions are crisp and tasty.

Hackensack 1950s Diner (Quezon City and Parañaque City)
Hackensack 1950s Diner is an American diner serving burgers, sandwiches, and rice meals. They started in Devour Food Hub in Quezon City and has opened another branch in B.F. Homes in Parañaque City (you should visit the latter because they offer free arcade games).

My favorites here are the 1950s “Onion Steamed” Cheeseburger and the Deluxe “Smashed” Cheeseburger. Its patties are beefy and juicy, the buns are soft and sweet, the bacon is fatty and tasty, and the cheese is rightly sharp. The 1950s Cheeseburger has a pronounced onion flavor, which I love!

Hungry Homies
Hungry Homies was founded by Miggy Cruz a.k.a. “the head homie”. He started out cooking for family and friends in 2020. Today, they have branches in Alabang (Muntinlupa City), Makati City, and, its birthplace, Marikina City.

All their burgers are good. But if I will pick one, it’ll be The Run BMC because it has bacon. I could really taste the bacon in every bite!
The Hypebeef
Scratch (Makati City and Taguig City)
Born in Poblacion, the nightlife district of Makati City, Scratch specializes in burgers and sandwiches. As its name suggests, they make their burgers from scratch, even their potato buns.

I also like many of their burgers. But one of my favorites is the Bacon Smash Burger. Its patties are beefy, super juicy, and have crisp edges. The buns are pillowy and buttery, the cheese is mild, its bacon is crisp, and its dressing is creamy and tangy. I think it’s the perfect burger for me!

Another favorite is the Swish Shroom Smash. I love its addition of swiss cheese, garlic cream cheese, and mushrooms.

Shake Shack
This one needs no further introduction. This New York-born international burger chain entered in the Philippine market in 2018 and they’re still flipping great burgers today.
I like that they introduce seasonal burgers, which makes them relevant. One is the N.Y. Steakhouse Burger, which has 100% Angus beef patty, white cheddar, sautéed mushrooms, fried onions, and horseradish peppercorn mayo. The onions add a nice flavor and crispness, and the mushrooms add earthiness and umami.

Sweet Ecstasy
This is one of the OG burger joints in Metro Manila! When you search for the best burgers in the Metro, Sweet Ecstasy, a.k.a. Sweet X, is most probably included in the list. In fact, it is the 37th Best Burger in the World by Big 7 Travel back in 2020.

Before the rise of new burger joints, Sweet X was my favorite spot!
The Peanut Butter Jalapeño Burger. Yes, you read that right!
TA-KA MNL (Makati City)
TA-KA used to be a food truck/pop-up that specializes in burgers and fried chicken. Today, it has a brick-and-mortar shop in Poblacion.
Their patty is likewise beefy and juicy. Then it has soft and buttery buns, sweet bacon, and tangy dressing. What I liked about their patty is that it still coarse so I can feel the beef in my mouth.

717 Deli (San Juan City)
Located in Greenhills (San Juan City), 717 Deli specializes in sandwiches. While they are known for their Roast Beef Sandwich, their burger is amazing!
Inside 717 Deli
Unlike the popular smashed burgers, the 717 Cheeseburger uses thick patty, which is beefy and ultra juicy (that's the advantage of thick patties over smashed ones). Then it's topped with melted cheese and a tangy “special” sauce.

[CLOSED] Mac’s Diner (Marikina City)
Mac’s Diner is an all American restaurant that’s housed inside a double decker bus. It is owned and operated by an engineer-turned-chef-slash-restaurateur from Chicago, chef Daniel San Juan Etimoff or “Danny”. The restaurant is named after the chef’s wife, Maria Airene Celestin or “Mac”.
Mac’s Diner
Their Mac’s Burger is made with two hundred grams of char-grilled beef patty, sandwiched between two sesame buns, and topped with cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, and white onions.
Mac’s Burger
The patty is beefy and juicy, and has a nice char flavor. Even though that it’s not a smashed burger, the patty has a slightly crisp exterior, which helps, I think, in keeping all the juices. The cheese is mild, the veggies are crisp, and the white onion add sharpness. Though the patty may need a bit more salt (I think it’s made the American way where you season your food), I think Mac’s Burger is one of the better burgers I’ve had in the Metro!
