I don’t go to cafes in Singapore because I find it expensive (well, almost all things in SG are expensive). A cup of coffee in cafes (not in kopitiams or local coffee shops, of course) can already buy you a meal at a hawker stall.
But in the neighboring Johor Bahru (Malaysia), everything, including coffee, is cheaper. No wonder there are so many cafes in JB, capitalizing on visitors who cross the border and want a reprieve from high Singaporean prices.
One of the cafes we visited is Alley & Daisy Cafe, a European-inspired cafe near the Johor Bahru City Square. Its first branch is in Eco Botanic, while the second one is in Jalan Trus, where we went.

Their interior, furniture, and tableware are European-inspired:

They serve both classic and specialty drinks. One is their Pineapple Americano, which I had high hopes since I love orange americano.

Pineapple Americano (MYR15)
Unfortunately, I couldn’t taste the pineapple. It’s like americano with soda water. LOL.
Thankfully, the other specialty drinks are better. The Donut Coffee is like cappuccino with “doughnut” foam, and the Rose Latte and Rose Milk both have nice floral notes.

The Tiramisu Latte is strong and will definitely wake you up:

But my favorites are the desserts. The Earl Grey Osmanthus Cheesecake screams European, with a nice earl grey flavor.

Their French Toast has bananas and berries, and it’s enjoyable!

The Tiramisu has a nice coffee and liqueur flavor:

Alley & Daisy Cafe has good coffee, great desserts, and a charming European vibe. So if you’re in JB, give it at try. I highly recommend it to you!
