Krapow MNL (BGC): My Favorite Thai Restaurant Now Has a Branch in Bonifacio Global City (Taguig City)

Krapow MNL is my favorite Thai restaurant here in the Philippines. Located in Poblacion (Makati City), it’s just walking distance from my home so I used to visit it frequently. I love it because they offer quality Thai food that’s not commonly served here in the Philippines. In fact, their Pad Thai, the globally-known Thai stir-fried noodles, was just a later addition to the menu. (Check out my review of Krapow MNL here.)

They opened their second branch in High Street South, Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City. But it was only last week that I got to visit it.

In this article, I am writing about the Krapow MNL dishes that I’ve tried for the first time:

Pad Thai Gai (Chicken Pad Thai)

This item is off-the-menu, so make sure to ask about it. Its noodles are perfectly chewy, the bean sprouts and crushed peanuts add a nice crunch. It’s one of the better Pad Thais I have ever tried

Som Tam Thai (Thai Papaya Salad)

Believe it or not, it’s my first time to try their Thai papaya salad. It’s because I’m afraid it might be too spicy for me. I love spicy food but the kick of Thai food is just on another level!

Som Tam Thai (PHP160)

It’s sweet, tangy, and stay-in-the-mouth spicy (but I can take it). The papaya are crisp and fresh. I’m glad I finally tried it!

Tom Ka Gai (Thai Coconut Chicken Soup)

Since I’m allergic to Tom Yum Goong Nam Sai (Cleary Spicy Thai Soup with Prawn) because of the prawns in it, I ordered this instead.

Tom Ka Gai (PHP370)

Its broth is creamy and coconutty. It’s also sweet and tangy, with a pronounce lemongrass taste. The mushrooms add a nice texture and umami.

Khao Pad Siu Yuk (Thai Fried Rice with Cantonese-Style Roast Pork)

We went days before the Chinese New Year. So the owner let me know about their Khao Pad Siu Yuk or Thai Fried Rice with Cantonese-Style Roast Pork, which is a CNY special. It wasn’t offered yet at the time of my visit. But the owner was kind enough to let me taste it.

The roast pork has Cantonese flavors and the fried rice is tasty. I like that there is a crunch coming from the chopped string beans, if I’m not mistaken.

Of course, my visit to Krapow MNL won’t be complete without ordering their namesake dish, Pad Krapow (I got the Moo Sub or minced pork one). It’s still my favorite! Read my review here.

And to end our meal, I got the Khao Niew Mamuang or Mango Sticky Rice. Nothing will beat this classic Thai dessert!

If you’re a big group, I suggest that you go to Krapow MNL’s BGC branch instead of the Poblacion branch since it has a bigger space. Also, parking will be more convenient since High Street South has a huge underground parking. And needless to say, I still highly recommend Krapow MNL to you.

P.S. They will be opening another branch at SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Square. I’m excited to visit!
