Tablo Kitchen x Cafe: Serving Good Comfort Food and Has a Cozy Interior

I’ll be honest: I’m not the biggest fan of food spots that serve comfort food. Their food, in my experience, lack a wow factor and are typically overpriced. So I try to stay away from these restaurants. Given the choice, I’ll go for spots that offer a specific cuisine or traditional food.

But I can’t ignore the rise of these spots in recent times. Some of these spots even serve from good to outstanding food. And their food may be simple, but it definitely touches the heart. That’s what comfort food does! So I’ll start writing about these spots and I’ll start with Tablo.

Tablo Kitchen x Cafe

Tablo Kitchen x Cafe is a fairly new chain of restaurants with three branches in the south of the Metro and one in Quezon City. They offer modern Filipino comfort food and have a tropical-inspired interior, which is very Instagramable.

Their food is either for one person or meant to be shared. Here’s what we tried:

To whet our appetites, we tried their Soy Caramel Chicken Chops, which are chunks of battered boneless chicken drizzled with soy caramel. It’s tender and crisp, and served with sweet, tangy, and caramelly dip.

We also tried the Tablo Nacho Grande, as nachos is a safe item to try. It turns out that their version is delicious! You can never go wrong with nachos!

One of us loves chips and pesto. Lo and behold, Tablo has Pesto Potato Chips, which our friend ordered instantly. It’s a nice appetizer. Unfortunately, it’s not in the menu as of the time of this writing.

For mains, we got the Creamy Beef Salpicado, which has tender slices of beef and a creamy and slightly sweet (it works) gravy. It has a mushrooms, which I believe are not from a can, and slivers of garlic that make it tastier. This dish is perfect for rice!

As I’ve observed, fried chicken is a staple in restaurants serving comfort food. Tablo is no different. Because we’re a big group, we ordered the Pan Fried Chicken + Chips Platter, which is served with coleslaw (like KFC’s!) and potato chips. It also comes with two sauces (butter gravy and labuyo [chili] honey), which are okay. The chicken are crisp and tender.

We were pleased with our experience at Tablo Kitchen x Cafe. They serve good food at reasonable prices, and it’s perfect to be shared with family and friends. Plus, the ambiance gives a relaxing vibe. I recommend Tablo to you.
