This article is part of the Batam Food Trip series. Check out the installments in this series: A2 Food Court | Kedai Kopi Harum Manis (Breakfast) | itsumō TART (Japanese-Inspired Cafe) | Love Seafood | RM Sederhana (Nasi Padang) | Sup Ikan 96 (Yam Fish Soup and Chinese Food) | Tearoom by aralee (Cafe) | Warung Guling Pak Made (Babi Guling or Balinese Roast Suckling Pig)
Compared to the cafes in the neighboring Singapore, the cafes in Batam (Indonesia) are more affordable. So before we returned to the Lion City, we seize the opportunity to visit as many cafes as we can. One cafe is Tearoom by aralee, which is our favorite cafe in the city (read my review here). Another is itsumo TART.

itsumō TART is one of the most popular cafes in all of Batam. It’s known for its Japanese-style tarts and soft serve.

But aside from Japanese-inspired food, itsumō TART is also known for its minimalistic architecture, both inside and out. It gives a peaceful and calm vibe, at least to me.

Since “tart” is in its name, we expect that it will be good. The Signature Cheese has a faint cheese flavor, while the Earl Grey (or London Fog) has a strong flavor. It also has a buttery and crumbly crust.

As mentioned earlier, they also specialize in Japanese soft serve. The Camembert & Honey is a nice combination of sweet and salty.

For drinks, they serve TWG Tea and Lupicia, a Japanese brand that offers a wide variety of fresh or cold brew teas. We tried the latter, choosing the Momijigari. Its has floral notes and is tart because of the apple.

itsumō TART is one of the must-visit cafe in Batam. Because they don’t serve coffee, I think it’s a refreshing break from the usual cafe experience. I highly recommend it to you!
