Goo. Cookies: This Bakery and Cafe in San Juan City Makes Gooey Cookies

Good cookies are hard to find in Metro Manila. When I want to eat cookies, I have to travel down south to Bungalow (check out my review here) for their Half Baked Cookies, or find the nearest ever-reliable Mo’ Cookies. Thankfully, more and more cookie stores are opening up. One of them is Goo. Cookies in San Juan City.

Goo. Cookies is the brainchild of Pennina Bernabe, who found inspiration from the cookies of New York City’s Levain Bakery. The cookies from the NYC bakery are crisp outside and gooey inside, which Bernabe successfully replicated.

When you visit Goo. Cookies, you’ll be greeted by this door that has a cute cookie handle:

The have five staple cookies in their menu: Classic (walnut chocolate chip), Double (chocolate chip), Oat (oatmeal chocolate chip), Dark (dark chocolate cocoa), and Coconut Caramel (shredded coconut with caramel). You can also opt for Goonies, which are bite-sized version of the cookies.

The Double has a crisp exterior and a gooey interior, which I love:

They also serve coffee and non-coffee drinks. Their specialty Cookie Latte has sea salt foam and cookie crumbs. I like its creaminess and the hint of salt from the foam.

The Iced Chocolate & Sea Salt is a limited edition drink. While we wish that it’s more chocolatey, the sea salt foam makes it better.

In my opinion, Goo. Cookies makes good cookies. I like that their cookies are crisp outside and gooey inside (I think it’s my first time to try a cookie with such textures). With that said, I recommend it to you!
