Trying Mendokoro Ramenba’s Lemak Laksa Ramen
My favorite ramen spot, Mendokoro Ramenba, is featuring a limited edition ramen—Lemak Laksa Ramen—which draws inspiration from a classic Malaysian or Singaporean dish, Laksa.
Lemak Laksa Ramen
To the uninitiated, laksa is a noodle soup dish that’s popular across Malaysia and Singapore, having regional varieties. The popular one internationally is Curry Laksa, which has coconut milk-based broth, fish cakes, and shrimp.
Mendokoro’s Lemak Laksa Ramen uses paitan or chicken-based broth that’s infused with coconut milk and blended with their own version of laksa paste. Then it’s topped with sous vide chicken, aji tamago (ramen egg), and tender ebi (shrimp).
The broth is creamy, slightly spicy, and slightly sweet. It also has a nice coconut flavor. The broth, together with the refreshing taste of the coriander topping, instantly transported me to Singapore!
The noodles are perfectly al dente. I’m happy this time because there are times that the noodles in Mendokoro, while still chewy, fall short of perfection (at least to my standards).
Perfectly Al Dente Noodles
I didn’t expect the aji tamago to exceed my expectations. Its white has the perfect hardness, while the yolk is creamy. Too bad I didn’t get to take a close-up photo of it!
The chicken breast is juicy and tender. I guess that’s what sous viding chicken breast can do.

Finally, there are two big shrimps on it. Unfortunately, I’m allergic to it so I didn’t get to taste it. LOL.
The Shrimps are Huge!
Mendokoro Ramenba’s Lemak Laksa Ramen is available on March 6-8, 13-15, 20-22, and 27-31, 2026. It’s also offered in Mendokoro’s sister ramen shops, Ramen Yushoken and Marudori. For me, it’s the best limited offering of Mendokoro so far. I highly recommend it to you!
P.S. The word “lemak” is a Malay word that literally translates to “fat” or “fatty”. The MICHELIN Guide explains that the term refers exclusively to “coconut milk creaminess”.
