Dane’s Hideout: This Food Spot in BF Resort Village (Las Piñas City) Serves Pancit Batil Patong and Other Northern Delicacies

Originating from Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, a province in North Luzon, Pancit Batil Patong (or Patung) is a pancit (stir-fried noodles) with a ton of toppings (“patung”) and served with an egg drop soup on the side (“batil”, which literally means “to whisk”). These toppings include ground beef, pig liver, and Lechon Karahay (deep-fried pork belly), among many others.

There are now many pancit batil patung spots across Metro Manila, with one of them is the MICHELIN-recognized Chie-Chie’s Pancit Batil Patung in Makati City. Another spot is Dane’s Hideout in BF Resort Village, Las Piñas City.

Here is their menu:

The Menu of Dane’s Hideout

Dane’s Hideout’s pancit batil patong has soft noodles, crisp vegetables, and liver that’s a bit sweet. But what I like about their version is that it’s covered with crushed chicharon (deep-fried pork rinds).

The accompanying egg drop soup is tasty and comforting:

It’s best to eat this with a condiment made of calamansi, soy sauce, chilies, and chopped white onions.

Aside from pancit batil patong, Dane’s Hideout also offers dishes from Northern Philippines. One is the Authentic Ilocos Bagnet, which is pork belly that’s boiled, air-dried, and deep-fried twice, resulting to a crunchy texture.

Authentic Ilocos Bagnet (PHP235)

Their bagnet is crunchy, fatty, and super juicy, served with fried rice and poached egg.

Another Northern food is Tuguegarao Longganiza, which is a longganisa (Filipino sausage) hailing from the same origin of pancit batil patung. Its flavor profile is garlicky (which is a trait of Tuguegarao longganisa) and spicy. It also has an odd mix of being dry yet juicy.

Interestingly, Dane’s Hideout serves Gotong Batangas. Named after its namesake province, which is located south of Metro Manila, this dish is unlike the usual Goto, a rice porridge with ox tripe. Rather, it’s a soup dish composed of beef and cow innards, and eaten with rice.

Gotong Batangas (PHP155)

Their version has garlicky broth and clean-tasting innards. I just wish the chunks of innards are bigger.

Dane’s Hideout makes good pancit batil patong and Northern Filipino food. If you’re in the mood to try a new regional cuisine, then this spot is for you. I highly recommend it to you!
