Aside from bakeries and patisserie, I also try to visit the popular (and possibly the best) burger joints of the city I’m traveling to. I heard that Baguio’s Hatch Coffee makes incredible burgers. It’s so good that Sarsa’s Chef JP Anglo treated his friends with it.

Hatch Coffee is a cafe located along Easter Road (hence the name), inside a quiet subdivision. They offer burgers, coffee, and grilled cheese sandwiches, among many others.

Just look for the yellow gate along Easter Road.

The cafe seems to be a house-turned-into-a-cafe/restaurant, which is common in Baguio.

Hatch Coffee even has a spacious lawn where you can chill!

There’s even a playground for the kids:

Let’s know talk about food, which you order inside and pay right away.

Inside Hatch Coffee

To whet our appetites, we had their Caesar Salad. Its lettuce is crisp (you can’t beat the freshness of Baguio greens!), covered in tangy dressing. But what makes it tasty is the ton of bacon bits.

I can’t believe that a Caesar salad would be this good!

Hatch Coffee is also known for their grilled cheese sandwiches. We tried two kinds. First is the classic Grilled Cheese. Its toasted, whole-wheat bread is rightly crisp (compared to others that can be overly toasted) and buttery. The cheese is melty and rightly sharp, complimenting well with the sweet and spicy Habanero Honey Dip.

But I like the second one more—the Ube (Purple Yam) Cheese. It’s a satisfying combination of sweet and salty.

Let’s now talk about their Hatch Burger, which has smashed beef patty, caramelized onions, American cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes, sandwiched between two brioche buns.

Here’s what I think of the components: The patty is juicy, tasty, and rightly minced. The buns are soft, and the veggies are fresh and crisp. But the x factor, for me, is the dressing. I believe it’s mustard-based.

Look at that cross section!

So how do I find it? It’s incredible! It’s easily one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten, and I’m now regretting that I didn’t try the other burgers in the menu.

Let’s not forget that Hatch Coffee is a cafe! LOL. We tried their Dirty Hatchata, which is their version of a horchata with a shot of espresso. I got the iced one, which is refreshing and has a nice cinnamon flavor.

We also tried their Cold Brew, which is standard. I like that it’s not acidic.

So does Hatch Coffee make the best burgers in Baguio City? Possibly! When you’re there, do yourself a favor by trying all of their burgers. And don’t forget their Caesar Salad (to counter the cholesterol of the burger LOL) and their Grilled Cheese sandwiches. I highly recommend Hatch Coffee to you!
