Chef RV Cafe: Baking Delicious Cakes and the Best Bibingka Galapong in Biñan City (Laguna)

I follow Chef RV Manabat’s vlog, especially his foodventures. A local of Biñan (Laguna), RV Manabat is a chef, restaurateur, culinary teacher, and cookbook author whose YouTube success gave him celebrity status.

I’ve been wanting to visit his namesake cafe (or technically, bakeshop)—Chef RV Cafe—for a long time. But our rest days fall on Mondays (when the cafe is closed) and Fridays (when our car is coding). Thankfully, we had an event in the south and thought of dropping by Biñan.

But is the hype real? Are their products really good?

Some of the products at Chef RV Cafe

Let’s start with their bestselling Bibingka Galapong (rice cake made with galapong or ground glutinous rice), which they boast of being the best in Biñan. While bibingka is usually served during the Christmas season, it’s available all year round in Chef RV Cafe.

Their Bestselling Four Cheese Bibingka Galapong

Their Four Cheese Bibingka Galapong has four varieties: Original, Chocnut, Ube, and Yema. Unfortunately, only the Original was available during our visit.

The bibingka is creamy, moist, and not as dense as I thought it to be. I also like that the salted egg isn’t overpowering. And let me say this: It’s easily the best bibingka I’ve ever tried in my life!

If you’re not into bibingka (but why?! LOL), you can also try their cakes.

The Cakes of Chef RV Cafe

My favorite cake so far is their Carrot Walnut Cheesecake. I like that their cheesecake is made with real cream cheese and there are no extenders in it. It’s also tart and velvety. The carrot cake is moist and has nice spices.

The Belgian Chocolate Cake is also moist. But I wish it had more chocolate flavor.

But if you want both their cheesecake and chocolate cake, then the Chocolate Blackout Cake is the way to go.

We also tried the Queso de Bola Cake, which has a mild queso de bola (literally “ball cheese”) taste (because others can be overpowering) and the perfect sweetnes

By the way, there’s no dine-in area in Chef RV Cafe. So if you want to eat your bibingka and cakes immediately, here’s my suggestion: Drive by the nearest gas station in South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and tailgate!

So is the hype real? Absolutely! Chef RV Cafe surpassed my expectations. In fact, I’m hoping to visit it again and try more cakes. Needless to say, I highly recommend it to you!

P.S. I met Chef RV at the cafe. He’s so friendly!
