Abaca Baking Company: The Largest Brunch Chain in Cebu City (They Have Good Breakfast Items and Baked Goodies!)

This article is part of my Cebu Food Trip 2023 series. Check out the installments so far: Parr’t Ebelle Tinola (Seafood)

If Manila has Wildflour, then Cebu has Abaca!

Formerly called A Cafe, Abaca Baking Company is a brunch chain that offers all-day breakfast and incredible baked goodies. It is one of the dining concepts of its namesake The Abaca Food Group, the group behind Maya Mexican Restaurant (check my experience here), Red Lizard (article coming soon!), and many more.

As a fan of croissant and other pastries, I knew we had to visit Abaca Baking Company. So we went there to hoard on their baked goodies and try a few of their breakfast items.

Look at those pastries!

More baked goodies!

We ordered their ABC Skillet Breakfast, which has two fried eggs, crisp bacon, country sausage, pork and beans, roasted tomatoes, house fries, and thick-cut toast. It’s definitely good for 2 or 3 persons.

I love the sausage because it’s like an elevated version of McDonald’s breakfast sausage. LOL. It’s thick, juicy, and herby (I think it’s sage). The bacon is crisp and tasty, and the bread is also crisp.

We also got their Croissant Sandwich so we get to try their version of kwasong. LOL. The croissant is crisp, soft, and buttery. The meat is tasty, the egg yolk is creamy, and the veggies add crunch. It’s one good breakfast sandwich!

For coffee, I tried their Okinawa Latte, which is slightly acidic and a bit too sweet for me, and Smores Latte, which is like a cafe mocha topped with marshmallow. Honestly, I’m not too impressed with the drinks but they’re enough to keep me up.

Of course, we’re not missing out on their pastries. We tried their signature Abacookie, Fruit Filled Danish, Pain au Chocolat, Portuguese Egg Tart, and Ugly Macaron.

All are good but my favorite is the Ugly Macaron. It’s decadent!

They also sell snacks the you can bring home or give as a gift.

What my wife and I loved about Abaca Baking Company is that they serve delicious brunch that’s affordable. Yes, we find it affordable because brunch spots in Makati City, where we live, are quite expensive and its food is so-so, sadly.

We enjoyed our visit at Abaca Baking Company. The food is good and the ambiance is relaxing. I highly recommend it to you!
