Ozark Diner (Baguio City): Your Spot for Southern (U.S.A.) Food

I’m doing a Baguio City Food Trip 2022 series this month. Check out the installments so far: Agara Ramen | Chef’s Home | Farmer’s Daughter | GoodTaste Cafe and Restaurant | Lemon and Olives Greek Taverna

When I was researching for food spots for our Baguio trip, I chanced upon a diner that serves Southern (U.S.A.) cuisine. It’s not too often that you hear of a restaurant here in the Philippines serving authentic Southern food. In fact, the only ones I know are KFC and Popeyes but I don’t think I should even count that. LOL. So it’s a no-brainer that I put it in our Baguio eat-inerary and try Ozark Diner.

Ozark Diner offers Southern food and “present[s] [their] own take on the classic dishes from diners, soul food and family potlucks.” It’s head chef, Chef Kevin Mize, was born and grew up in Arkansas. We can be sure that the food at Ozark is authentically Southern!

We went there on a rainy afternoon and it feels really cozy:

Let’s now talk about the food, starting with the Sizzling Breakfast Platter. It’s a hash with strong flavors of rosemary and sage. The sage sausage gives extra kick of flavors.

Pecan Pie is rightly sweet, nicely spiced, and generous for its price (P150 only!)

  • Ham Steak is slightly sweet, subtly smoky, and moist. Love the fat in it. Needs salt in it.

  • Biscuits are crumbly and salty, the honey make it sweet. It’s nice except that there’s a strong after taste. My wife said it’s due to too much baking powder. Maybe it’s not their best batch.

  • Mashed potato is creamy and butters. My potato-loving wife said that it’s the best she has ever tried!
